Roseland Center for Youth Chicago, IL Roseland Center for Arts & Culture (Center for Youth) was a challenge to use concrete as the main structural system. Roseland’s Center for Youth is the host of residents of Roseland Chicago as a socially and culturally wounded neighborhood. The quite dramatic and serious condition of Roseland affected the design process greatly. Architecture in such situation has the responsibility to engage visitors with the moments it can create to embrace the memories of the ones who have lost their lives due to gang activities and injustice. Therefore, this building is not just a center for youth, but a memorial and a place to share.
